What does Youth Action for Nature mean?
We want to empower young people across Birmingham and the Black Country to build a strong relationship with the natural spaces around them, and in turn, to be able to take action to protect those spaces and nature as a whole.
There’s a range of ways to get involved, from just connecting with our digital community and participating in things going on in your area, to leading on projects or getting involved in our Trust’s youth forum. Either way, there is a range of events, trainings and workshops to get involved in. Have a look below to get started.

To help shape our work, we're holding conversations with 11-25 year olds across the region to find out how you're feeling about nature, wildlife, and the environment … and how we can help you feel more connected and supported in taking action for the things you care about.
Our Digital Community
We want young people to feel heard, understood and empowered in protecting the natural world, so we’ve created a digital community to help you connect with other young people aged 16-25 from Birmingham and the Black country.
The community will be a space where you can develop the skills you need to take action for nature and get involved or lead on initiatives in your community. We’ll be facilitating discussions, sharing resources and opportunities, and supporting you on your journey!
You can find some details about the space here, and please make sure you read through our community guidelines before applying to join
Join the Conversation
If you're over 18 or an adult who works with 11-25 year olds: We would love to hold some Conversation Circles with groups of young people either on Zoom or in-person. If you'd like to make this happen, or just want to have a chat about how we might work together, please contact our Youth Action for Nature Manager at aisha.m@bbcwildlife.org.uk
Nextdoor Nature is a funded programme that aims to help Wildlife Trusts ‘kickstart’ their #TeamWilder journey and embed the community organising ethos throughout the federation. Launched in May 2022, Nextdoor Nature is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and provides £5 million to support community led rewilding projects, improving the lives of people in some of the most disadvantaged communities across the UK. The project launched with a poem written and performed by George the Poet, and a series of films showcasing inspirational community led rewilding projects taking place in Nottingham, Swansea, Jaywick and Stafford.
