Donate to the Wild Walsall Matched Funding Appeal

From 12:00 noon on Tuesday 22 April, to 12:00 noon on Tuesday 29 April, any donation you make to the Wild Walsall project will be matched* by a funding partner via our partnership with The Big Give. Wild Walsall is our four-year initiative aimed at restoring and protecting 55 hectares of key natural habitats in the Walsall area, focusing on the globally rare lowland heathland, and reconnecting local communities with nature, with at least 50,000 local people directly benefitting.

The project is currently in its year-long development phase, and this specific appeal is aiming to raise £2,500 towards ecological survey work, and £2,500 towards site scoping activity.

You can find more information on this project here.

* Up to a total of £5,000, not including Gift Aid

Frequently Asked Questions

What is matched funding?

Matched funding means that, for every donation made during the week-long campaign (which runs from noon on Tuesday 22 April to noon on Tuesday 29 April 2025), an equivalent amount is contributed by The Big Give's funding champions, doubling the impact of your donation.

How does matched funding work during The Big Give's campaign week?

Donations made via The Big Give's platform during the campaign week are matched by a pool of funds provided by partners, sponsors or philanthropists. If, for instance, you donate £25, we will receive an additional £25 in matched funds.

Is there a limit to how much I can donate to receive matched funding?

Matching is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and as a charity, we can receive up to £2,500 in matched funding for this appeal. Be sure to act quickly to make sure that your donation can be doubled at no additional cost to you!

Can I still donate once the matched funds run out?

Absolutely! Any donation made through The Big Give platform will come directly to us, even if the matched funds are exhausted. Every single donation makes a real difference.

Is my donation eligible for Gift Aid?

Yes, if you are a UK taxpayer, you can add Gift Aid to your donation, which will increase its value by 25%, at no additional cost to you. You need to pay at least the equivalent amount of tax to cover this 25% over the course of the financial year, and if this changes, you need to let us know as soon as possible. We claim Gift Aid regularly over the course of the year, and we don't want to make a mistake on this.

When will you receive my donation?

We will receive the total funds from your donation once the campaign has ended. We will contact you to let you know when we have the information from The Big Give.

How do I make a donation during the campaign?

To qualify for matched funding, donations must be made via The Big Give website, between 12:00 noon on Tuesday 22 April and 12:00 noon on Tuesday 29 April 2025.  We can't claim matched funding for donations made any other way. Payments are processed by Stripe and the funds will be transferred to us, along with the matched funding amount, once the campaign has ended.

There is a slightly different process to donate by Bank Transfer, which you can find here. You must complete the second stage of the process before the end of the campaign for the donation to count.

What happens to donations in excess of the target?

Anything raised over and above what we are aiming for will be ringfenced and used only to support the Wild Walsall initiative. Unfortunately, anything over the matched funding target will not be matched, but the donation will still come to us once the campaign has ended.
