We are delighted to announce that global legal firm Hogan Lovells have chosen us as their UK charity partner for four years, commencing in 2020. Hogan Lovells legal expertise spans a wide range of industries, providing legal advice in areas from employment law and pensions to real estate and international trade. The partnership was officially launched on 15th January at Hogan Lovells' Birmingham City Centre office with a presentation from Natural Prospects trainee, Aaron, on the diversity of bees in the city and colleagues had the chance to make bee hotels and experience microscopic views of Aaron’s bee specimens.
Hogan Lovells colleagues will take part in a series of fun fundraising activities to raise valuable funds to help us to protect wildlife and restore wild spaces. The Trust will work closely with Hogan Lovells during the partnership to deliver inspirational and educational lunchtime activities and encourage colleagues to sign up to campaigns such as 30 Days Wild.
2020 Update:
During the first year of the partnership, Hogan Lovells employees have raised over £19,000 for the Trust through a range of fundraising initiatives including quiz nights, winter games challenge, wild walks, virtual wreath making workshops and a Christmas raffle.
2021 Update:
A fantastic £15,283 was raised in the second year of our partnership with activities including virtual bird-box making workshops, in-person wreath making workshops, Olympic-style games challenges, Eurovision and Euros 2021 sweepstakes and a festive market event.
2022 Update:
Almost £15,000 has been raised for the Trust during the first 6 months of the third year of this partnership. Activities included abseiling, a Lands End to John O’Groats cycling challenge and a superb ballroom dancing competition. Colleagues joined us for their first Wild Experience Day and we were delighted to join their annual summer party at the impressive Sky Gardens in London. Hogan Lovells also generously sponsored our strategy launch event in June and we are thrilled to confirm that the partnership has been extended to run for a further year until December 2023.
2023 Update:
On 28th March, we joined colleagues from Hogan Lovells’ Birmingham Office for a 142-mile spin-athon challenge. With a virtual route from London to Birmingham, the cyclists visited 6 nature reserves and completed challenges and quizzes along the way. 9 teams collectively cycled 1223 kilometers over 3 hours, raising over £6,700!
Gill McGreevy, Partner and Head of Birmingham Office said: “It is phenomenal to see how much we have been able to raise at a time when it is especially challenging to organise fundraising events. It is testament to how current and relevant our partnership with The Wildlife Trusts is, that we have been able to engage in some very enjoyable, as well as educational, initiatives, as well as to the imagination and resourcefulness of our partners at The Wildlife Trusts in developing engaging lock-down fund raising opportunities. I personally enjoyed learning about the many different species of the amazing bee, the bird box making workshop (which including learning to recognise common birdsongs) and the species recording for City Nature Challenge.
The critical importance of our wildlife and nature to our very survival, as well as to our physical and mental well -being, has come into stark focus as a result of the pandemic, leading to even greater appreciation for the essential work of The Wildlife Trusts. We look forward to taking random acts of wildness for 30 Days Wild and more fundraising activities during the second year of the partnership.”
