Introducing Dr Delia Garratt, our new CEO

Dr Delia Garratt joins the Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, where she was Director of Cultural Engagement. Over 10 years Delia has played a pivotal role in transforming the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust's engagement with its national and international audiences.

She has overseen award-winning learning and engagement programmes, including Shakespeare Week, the national annual celebration which gives primary school children a great first encounter with Shakespeare.  She led the development of partnerships resulting in increased access to and research on the charity's internationally significant collections.  She also launched an ambitious creative programme to engage new audiences.

Previously Delia was Museums and Communities Manager at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, and Collections Development Officer at The Waterways Trust (now the Canal and River Trust).  Delia is Trustee at SAMPAD.

Delia said: 'I am really excited about joining the Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country. The need to protect wildlife has never been more urgent and the Trust is uniquely positioned to make an important difference for wildlife and people living in this region.’
