With the global plastic issue all over the media at the moment, we want to do something big to help highlight what’s going on and the impact plastic is having on wildlife. We’re planning to create an urban plastic safari trail around the whole library which 1000’s of people can discover and explore!
If you’d like to be involved, we’re looking for schools to get crafty and make some animals out of recycled plastic. Whether that’s fish bottles, a giant octopus, a hedgehog, bird or whale, size doesn’t matter so long as we can get it in a van! If you want to get the whole school involved we can accept up to 30 small sculptures from each school taking part, but if you’re going big then we can probably only manage 1 or 2!
You have until Friday 21st September 2018 to finish your sculptures and send us a picture with your school name, address and a main contact. Sculptures will be collected the following week for showcasing on Saturday 29th September! A discovery trail will be set up around the library so people all day can see if they can find every sculpture hidden around the library! All schools taking part will have their names listed around the library so that everyone knows about your contribution to tackle plastic use!
