Did you know that Moseley Bog is home to ancient history? A burnt mound just off the boardwalk is believed to have been created when people built themselves a type of sauna by the brook. Sweat lodges that are thought to have been places used for cultural events such as cleansing, healing and spiritual rituals which took place 3000 years ago!

On Saturday 24 September, we and the Friends of Moseley Bog will be carrying out a reconstruction of one of those sweat lodges! You may be aware of the bronze age burnt mound just off the boardwalk. It's believed this was created when people built themselves a type of sauna by the brook.

Construction will start in the morning. Join us at 13.00pm for a guided walk Dr Mike Hodder, former Birmingham City Council planning archaeologist, to the original Bronze Age burnt mound and sweat lodge site. Meet at the Moseley Bog car park, Yardley Wood Road, B13 9YP.

Or arrive any time from 2pm until 4pm to enter the sweat lodge and experience the sauna for yourselves, taking place in the small grassed area to the right of the main path near the car park.
