We're Recruiting New Trustees

The Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust are searching for four Trustees, including at least one Young Trustee. No previous experience required, first time Trustees welcome!

Are you passionate about nature, wildlife and changing the way people think and act about their environment?  Can you demonstrate a desire and track record to learn and inspire others to improve their environment and communities?

If so, why not apply to sit on Trust Council as one of our Trustees?

We are hoping to recruit up to four Trustees and we are particularly interested in hearing from people that are representative of Birmingham and the Black Country Communities.

As a Trustee you will play a crucial role in providing oversight, decision making and strategic direction to our work.  You will join a dynamic team that is committed to making a difference and will contribute to our board meetings, sub-committee meetings and strategy sessions.

We have an experienced Chair, who encourages a supportive environment, in what will be a rewarding and satisfying role that also enables personal development and growth.

Time commitment will be 4.5 days consolidated equivalent per year.

Hear from our current Young Trustee, Joe Moran, on what the role means to him.

We will provide you with:

  • Full induction and training
  • Personal Development opportunities
  • The experience of being a non-executive director for a three-year period through your attendance at four board meetings and four committee meetings.
  • Insights into how a small, not-for-profit, organisation works and experience of good practice in the board’s role to provide oversight and strategic advice.
  • The opportunity to build your knowledge through presentations and discussions, and through collaboration at board meetings to provide advice to our organisation.
  • The chance to be mentored by one of our board members.

We are an equal opportunity organisation and are committed to the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion.  Our mission is to welcome everyone, to celebrate difference, and we encourage everyone to join us and be themselves regardless of: age, disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status or pregnancy and maternity.

We particularly want to reflect the communities we serve and actively encourage applications from people of colour.

We will be recruiting on a rolling basis. First interviews will be held online, second interviews will be held in person at our Head Office in Birmingham.

We look forward to receiving your application.
